Photo taken at Village Loom program, on Thursdays in Eden Mills.

Come out to hone your outdoor food and fire skills with Annie and Maddie within the season of Spring!

At this workshop we will be starting our morning with exploring the landscape around Guelph Outdoor School to connect with the local plant life to identify and explore the world of tinder!

(tinder: materials used to start a fire)

These materials will be used to create ones own personal Tinder-Kit and start your own fire.

We may also gather a few plants to use in a Spring time soup!

Back at camp we will teach skills for adding to your

fire-starting-craft, such as feather sticks/shavings, and battoning, as well as fire structure lays.

Expect a lot of plant and tree ID!

Women will be given time to practice and create their own fire. After which we will begin making soup using a number of wild edibles. Heck, if you can get your own fire going and maintain it, we may even reward you with some raw bannock dough to cook over your own fire!

(Hint: this is a motivating factor)

When the soup is ready we will gather around the main fire to share food, bannock, stories of the day, and connection.

Workshop time and duration:

10:30 am - 3:30 pm

5 hour workshop
